Questions

What patients ask us first

Is it safe to have surgery in China?

Your surgery takes place at Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, a Grade 3A university teaching hospital and one of China's leading centres for orthopaedics. Before you book, your X-rays and reports are assessed and you receive the treatment plan and a fixed quote in writing.

Do I need a visa?

It depends on your passport and how long you stay. Joint replacement trips take about 3 to 4 weeks including rehab. We check the current rules for you and provide an invitation letter if one is needed.

Will my insurance cover it?

Some international and private policies cover treatment abroad. Send us your policy details and we will help you check.

What if I have a problem after I get home?

The Complete package includes 12 months of complication insurance that starts when you return home. You also leave with full medical records in English and a rehab plan for your local doctor or physiotherapist. Your coordinator stays in touch after you get home and passes any questions back to the hospital team.

When can I fly home after surgery?

Most patients stay 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. Your surgeon clears you to fly once your wound has healed and your mobility is good, and we give you advice on reducing the risk of blood clots on the flight.
